We also have to think about the culture of campus student newspapers and their impact in introducing, archiving, critiquing, and accounting for musical shifts and how the music is received by the culture. Artists used to make their debuts on college campuses...just go through any HBCU archives and you will see article after article dissecting musical performances. I read an article on Tupac visiting Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi in the 90s. We have to reinsert student journalism into the music industry as well. Thank you for having this conversation!
