Are labels keeping artists away from real journalists?

What people said

Publicists and record labels are gatekeeping artists from real journalists. They don’t care if a writer is talented or genuinely cares about the genre. They want to know how many followers you have and whether the interview will buzz on social media. But I also blame the artists to an extent because they should be asking questions and advocating for the journalists who actually care about their stories. And then you have editors at these publications who don’t want to discover artists anymore. Everything is about who’s already popping. Imagine if nobody covered Jay Z while he was coming up and waited until he was HOV to care. That’s how we lose the stories that document an artist’s journey. Overall, it feels like publications don’t care about hip hop.

Rap….my dear friend, you are an incredible artist who is present in a low vibrational, short attention span, low IQ and toxic world….we have to keep the faith, stay creative and consistent to beat the reduced levels of fan and consumer quality
